Co-op Assignment Overview
Prime Medicine, located in Watertown, MA, is seeking a highly motivated co-op student with a strong foundation in chemistry to join its Lipid Chemistry team for the Fall 2025 semester. The successful candidate will contribute to the synthesis, bioconjugation, purification, analysis and compound management of lipids., The experience in these areas allows gaining valuable hands-on experience in lipid chemistry critical to lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery systems. This role will involve utilizing a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to manage Prime Medicine's internal lipid library, directly supporting LNP discovery and process development teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with lipid synthesis, purification, and analysis.
- Accurately register novel lipids within the LIMS.
- Manage the storage, retrieval, and distribution of lipids for LNP discovery and process development teams.
- Conduct laboratory work safely and efficiently, contributing to a positive work environment.
- Support chemical inventory management and ordering activities.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or MS candidate in life sciences/organic chemistry.
- Basic knowledge of organic chemistry and analytical chemistry will be a plus.
- Excellent computer skills and troubleshooting skills needed.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Chemistry major with coursework in organic chemistry, biochemistry, and analytical chemistry.
- Proficiency in common software applications (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Adaptability to learning new software.
- Familiarity with small molecule characterization techniques (TLC, NMR, MS, HPLC).
- Excellent organizational, planning, and multitasking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
