Position Summary:

Prime Medicine is seeking an Associate Scientist I/II in oligonucleotide analytical chemistry to join our gRNA process chemistry team. The individual will be involved method optimization, stability, and day-to-day routine laboratory activities for supporting gRNA in-process analytics including UV measurement, UPLC and LC-MS analysis. Upon time permits, the individual will operate AKTA purifier for purification, Tangential flow filtration (TFF) for desalting and lyophilization of gRNA oligonucleotides. The individual will learn quickly, will generate data and document them in the Prime’s project specific folder, and will share results at scientific team meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports in-process analytics for Prime’s long guide RNA (ribonucleic acid) platform development using various laboratory techniques such as UPLC, LC-MS, Nano drop, etc.
  • Supports laboratory chemists for in-process analysis of gRNA oligonucleotides by UPLC UPLC and LC-TOF methods (crude sample, fractions, pool, pre & post-TFF samples) and report results in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a log sheet for all in-process sample analysis; help to manage consumables and parts for in-process analytics and downstream purification.
  • Maintain the lab instruments such as UPLC, Nano drop, LC-MS, AKTA Pure etc. in good operational condition after use.
  • Perform oligonucleotide purifications with AKTA-Pure, perform desalting with TFF and lyophilization
  • Documents data in the Prime’s project specific folder, write a project summary report in brief and share results at scientific team meetings.
  • Present data in the internal chemistry team meetings.


  • A BS or MS in Chemistry or related discipline with 0–2 years industry experiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, good organization skills, the ability to multi-tasks, and work as a team player and independently.
  • A passion for learning and contributing to multiple facets of a program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity working in chemistry laboratory, and experience with instrumentation such as UPLC, LC-MS, Nano drop, AKTA-Pure is a plus.
  • Familiarity about drug substance characterization is a plus.
