Co-op Assignment Overview
Prime Medicine is seeking a co-op for the Spring 2024 cycle with experience in Information Technology and an interest in life sciences to join the IT team. The qualified candidate will get hands-on experience executing digital technology projects within a life science company. In this position, you will get experience partnering with scientists, IT vendors, as well as the opportunity to work on new IT systems and digital projects
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact in IT for daily operational tasks and end user requests
- Work with more senior team members to identify root causes, resolve, and monitor all technology support requests in a timely, effective, and proactive manner
- Answer all service requests in a timely manner, set customer expectations around resolution times, and follow-up to ensure overall end user satisfaction
- Provide a consistently high-quality end user service experience
- Assist in the deployment, maintenance, support, upgrade, and tracking of new and existing client technology assets, including desktops, laptops, phones, mobile devices, printers, and other peripherals
- Perform tasks associated with adds/moves/changes and the relocation of all IT equipment during office/workspace moves
- Configure, testing, and troubleshooting of new and existing IT systems
- Identify vulnerabilities across all IT assets and apply patching and other fixes for remediation
- Assist in developing our growing IT infrastructure
- Work on existing projects and help develop new projects aimed at improving the group's computer requirements
- Collaboration with other IT team members, systems vendors, and consultants on technology implementations and improvements
Qualifications:
- B.S. candidate in IT, information systems, data or engineering related fields.
- Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate between tech and business terminologies
- Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new tech
- Basic understanding of systems and databases
- Basic understanding of digital technology project phases (requirements gathering, testing, etc.)
- Familiarity with Microsoft M365 suite
- Demonstrated computer skills with Windows and Microsoft office products. Basic knowledge of computer setup and connecting its peripherals
- Basic understanding of networking and cloud computing environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working within life sciences
- Previous experience working on IT projects
- Some knowledge of at least two operating systems: Windows 10, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Mac OS X, and Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.)
- Familiarity with Microsoft M365 suite
- Demonstrated computer skills with Windows and Microsoft office products. Basic knowledge of computer setup and connecting its peripherals
- Basic understanding of networking and cloud computing environments
