We use Prime Editing, a next-generation technology that can “search and replace” to restore normal genetic function almost anywhere in the genome. Prime Editing searches to find the precise place in the genome to edit and replaces the segment of faulty DNA with a correct copy of DNA.  A single Prime Editor can correct the individual mutations found across patients, meaning Prime Editing can potentially address more than 90 percent of known disease-causing genetic mutations.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Associate Scientist to join the analytical development team in Prime’s growing Technical Development and Operations organization. The candidate will play a key role in solving complex analytical challenges through the development and application of a variety of LC, LC-MS, ELISA, biochemical, and cell-based analytical assays. This is hands-on role where the candidate will also be responsible for the reliable testing of critical samples through the utilization of high throughput testing formats and lab automation. The ideal candidate is highly dependable, detail-oriented, and has demonstrated abilities for generating high-quality data in a multidisciplinary team setting. This is a unique position with the opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of prime editing programs towards the clinic. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of analytical development, including routine sample analysis, characterization/release testing, new analytical method development, method qualification/validation, and stability testing
  • Conduct routine sample testing across a variety of assay platforms including high throughput testing formats, following Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Environments, and assay procedures
  • Support new analytical method development to augment Prime’s analytical capabilities
  • Perform method qualification and validation, and assist in method transfer to internal teams as well as external CTLs (contract testing labs) and CDMOs (contract development and manufacturing organizations)
  • Maintain electronic lab notebook following data integrity principles and practices
  • Effectively communicate results to multi-disciplinary teams in oral and written formats
  • Lab operations: perform instrument maintenance, manage critical reagents and consumables, etc.


  • BS/MS in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline with ideally 1 or more years of experience in a laboratory environment
  • Experience in HPLC and/or mass spectrometry methods is highly desired
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to identify and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Open-minded with a willingness to learn new skills and processes
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with method development and qualification in an industrial setting is a plus
  • Previous experience in mass spectrometry-based analysis of macromolecules (proteins, RNA/DNA, etc.) is a plus
